Can I get a repeat prescription online?
Yes — a repeat prescription can be reissued online when an EU-registered doctor reviews your existing prescription or the medication box and confirms that the same medicine, at the same dose, is safe to continue. The new prescription is issued in English, names the active ingredient and is recognised at pharmacies across the EU under Directive 2011/24/EU. Controlled medicines, sleeping tablets, testosterone and weight-loss medicines are never refilled online.
How to get a prescription refill online — what happens after you press start
1. Upload and answer — about 3 minutes
Upload the prescription or the box photo, then answer the questionnaire: which medicine and dose, how long you have taken it, whether your condition has changed, side effects, other medicines, allergies, pregnancy. Photograph the box flat, in good light, with the pharmacy label and all edges visible. Before payment the form asks you to confirm that the medicine is not a controlled drug, a sleeping tablet, testosterone or a weight-loss medicine (the red box above the form) — a request for one of those is not refunded.
2. The doctor's review
The doctor reads the document and your answers, daily 7am–11pm CET. A stable treatment at an unchanged dose with clear documentation is reissued. If the condition seems to have changed or the dose would need adjusting, the doctor does not refill from the form. You are told why, the €34 is refunded, and a video consultation is suggested where that is the right next step. A document that cannot be read means a message from the doctor asking for a better one first.
3. The pharmacy
The reissued prescription appears in your Mobi Doctor profile in English, naming the active ingredient. Show it at a pharmacy you choose in any of the 14 EU countries and pay the pharmacy for the medicine; the pharmacist dispenses the local equivalent. Mobi Doctor does not sell or dispense medicines.

Is a repeat prescription issued online legal across the EU?
Yes. Under Article 11 of Directive 2011/24/EU, a prescription issued by a doctor registered in one EU country must be recognised in every other. Implementing Directive 2012/52/EU sets out what it has to contain: your name and date of birth, the prescriber's name, qualification and contact details, the medicine by its common (active-ingredient) name, the strength, the quantity and the dosage, and the date. The prescription an EU-registered doctor issues on Mobi Doctor is built to that standard, which is why a pharmacy in Lisbon can dispense a medicine prescribed for a patient whose treatment began in Dublin. A pharmacist keeps the right to refuse a prescription they have doubts about, and a medicine that is not marketed in the country you are in cannot be dispensed there, whatever the paperwork says.
How to refill a prescription when the original was issued in another country
The document you upload can come from any country as long as it is in English, readable, and shows your full name, the medicine and the dose. A prescription written in German or Spanish cannot be verified by a doctor who does not read the language, so for those the box photo — original packaging with the pharmacy label — is usually the better upload. The doctor then reissues a fresh prescription in English naming the active ingredient, which is what pharmacies in the 14 countries act on. Expats, cross-border workers and long-stay travellers use this route to keep a home treatment going without registering with a local doctor. What it cannot do is replace the doctor who manages a condition that needs monitoring — blood tests, blood-pressure checks, a review of a long-term medicine — and the doctor will say when that review is overdue.
Controlled and restricted medicines are never refilled — or prescribed — on Mobi Doctor
This is the rule with no exceptions, and it applies to every route on the platform, not only the refill form. Doctors on Mobi Doctor never prescribe or refill: prescription sleeping tablets (zopiclone, zolpidem, zaleplon) and sedating medicines; benzodiazepines and other anxiety medicines (diazepam/Valium, alprazolam/Xanax, lorazepam, clonazepam, bromazepam); strong opioid painkillers (tramadol, oxycodone, morphine, fentanyl, tapentadol); ADHD stimulants (methylphenidate/Ritalin/Concerta, lisdexamfetamine/Elvanse, dexamfetamine); ketamine, cannabis-based medicines and anabolic steroids. If your medicine is on this list, the refill form is not the place for it — a request submitted despite the notice is not processed and the €34 is not refunded. Your own doctor, or a doctor who can see you, is the route for these.
Testosterone (TRT) is never refilled online
Testosterone replacement is not a repeat prescription in the ordinary sense: continuing it safely depends on blood tests — testosterone level, blood count, PSA — and on a doctor reviewing your response and side effects. That is why testosterone is excluded from the refill form altogether, whether you have a prescription to upload or not. Mobi Doctor has a separate TRT consultation for it, where a doctor assesses you by video and orders or reviews the blood tests before deciding whether treatment continues. A refill request for testosterone is not processed and the €34 is not refunded, because the form states the exclusion before payment and asks you to confirm it.
Weight-loss medicines — Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Saxenda — are never refilled online
Semaglutide, liraglutide and tirzepatide, whether prescribed for weight loss or for diabetes, are not continued through the refill form. Their dose is stepped up over months, their side effects and your weight, blood sugar and blood pressure need reviewing at each step, and supply is often interrupted by shortages that change what a pharmacy can dispense — none of which a questionnaire can handle. Mobi Doctor's separate medical weight-loss consultation is the route: a doctor assesses you by video and decides whether and how treatment continues. A refill request for any of these medicines is not processed and the €34 is not refunded; the form says so before you pay.
How quickly a refill is reviewed, and what slows it down
Requests are usually reviewed within 15 minutes, daily 7am–11pm CET, every day of the year including weekends and public holidays, when most clinics are closed; a request submitted overnight is reviewed first thing the next morning. The doctor's decision appears in your Mobi Doctor profile and you are notified. Two things cause nearly every delay: a photo where the name, medicine or dose cannot be read, and questionnaire answers that leave the doctor unsure whether the treatment is still right for you. In both cases the doctor writes to you before deciding, and the clock restarts when you reply.
When a refill is not approved — and what happens to the €34
A doctor declines a refill when the documentation is unclear or incomplete, the medicine is excluded, the condition appears to have changed, a dose adjustment would be needed, or continuing the medicine without an examination or a blood test would be unsafe. If the request was eligible and the doctor cannot approve it online, the €34 is refunded in full and you are told the next step, usually a video consultation or, for one of the 13 conditions the Express Assessment covers, that condition's own questionnaire. Requests for medicines identified as excluded before payment are the one exception and are not refunded. Answer the questionnaire completely: it is what the doctor uses to confirm a refill is safe, and a vague answer only means a message back and a longer wait.
Renew your repeat prescription online while travelling or living abroad
If you have run out on holiday, on a work trip or after a move, you can request the refill from any of the 14 EU countries — Spain, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Portugal, Greece, Ireland, Denmark, Luxembourg, Malta and Romania — and collect at a pharmacy you choose there. Bring the box or the old prescription when you travel; a photo taken at home before you leave is the simplest safeguard. Pharmacy brands and pack sizes differ between countries, so the pharmacist may hand you a different box of the same medicine; the active-ingredient name on the prescription is what makes that safe.
